"William
the Conqueror" was cast as a historic drama of epic proportion.
Three
categories were drawn upon for the composition of the score. (1) Authentically
researched eleventh century music for choir, (2) music for period instruments,
and (3) contemporary symphonic film music. William and Matilda have their
highly romantic theme. William the Conqueror has his towering theme, and
the period music is presented as if it were performed live at Williams
court at Rouen.
You
cannot fail to be inspired by this most moving and exciting score.
A
truly classical film score starting with the oboe solo of the "Main
Title," climaxing through "The Competition" and moving
on to the utter sadness of "The Consequence." The drama and
beauty of this score should bring tears to your eyes. Note in particular
the charm of "Spanish Dance" and "Nettleby Polka."
Vienna,
City of Dreams, is the location where the "Lucona Affair" took
place. Johann Strauss Junior and Senior have to find their way into the
music. The "Main Title" is a poignant soaring theme. The music
for the investigative journalism is tinged with a jazz feel. The music
reflects the drama of the story. You will probably detect a feeling of
"The Godfather" here and there. Of course, the Mafia has to
be involved.
The
beauty and splendor of Shakespeares dialogue coupled with the most
poignant of ill-fated love stories were inspiration for John Scotts
powerful movie score. The mighty Roman Army, Caesars relentless
hunting down of Antony, Antonys impetuous love affair with Cleopatra
all find their individual voices in the music of Antony & Cleopatra.
The strings cry out in anguish. The brass threatens, while the woodwind
entreats. The orchestration is truly masterful. This score is a proven
favorite among film music enthusiasts as well as classical music lovers.
